Is There A Optimal Alkalinity Level? | Reef2Reef There is no optimal alk level for all reefs and all aquarists There are valid reasons to maintian any alk from 7 to 11 dKH, IMO Higher alk (say, 9-11 dKH) promotes faster coral growth, especially SPS If growth is the main goal, higher alk is desirable But if nutrients are not high enough to support the higher growth, high alk can risk burnt High Alkalinity what does it really cause | Reef2Reef Hi, What does really ahppen when you run High Alk in a tank Understand that low alk can cause coral skeletons to melt and that affects the flesh on top but what happens if your alk is too high? Would assume you'd have coral growth that tissue might not be able to keep up with but how does Low alkalinity, safe way to raise it? | Reef2Reef Figured I’ll raise it to 6 ml’s a day and try to raise the alk level 1- 2 points a day good plan or just keep it where it is?
